NY Premiere of "I Am Legend" Starring Will Smith-December 11, 2007

Will Smith dazzled the red carpet tonight at the premiere of his new movie, "I Am Legend" which is a remake of a fantastic Charlton Heston movie called "The Omega Man." I usually hate remakes, especially when the original was so great but I honestly can't think of anyone better for this role than Will Smith.
Surprising everyone (except Luisa who had a hunch last night) was none other than Tom Cruise.
Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy walked the red carpet too, with a boot on his foot from an accident during a concert. Ron Howard, Ben McKenzie and Mary J Blige were also present.

Special Screening of "Enchanted" for the City of NY at the Ziegfield Theater, November 19, 2007

"McDreamy" himself Patrick Dempsey made hearts flutter tonight when he walked the red carpet for a special screening of his latest movie "Enchanted" with Amy Adams. Unfortunately, the other cute one in the film, James Marsden, was a no show. "Enchanted" was filmed in NYC last year so tonight's special screening was a way for them to give back.

Breathing easier today!

It's a wonderful world that we live in today with the internet. We can "meet" people, connect with them, become friends with them even though we have never met (yet) in person.
Thru the best photo board I know online, sportsshooter.com, I have met a remarkable woman named Jody who resides on the opposite coast from me. We joke that we are sisters separated at birth (even though I am 5 years older, she has a killer body and the best hair on the planet). Our minds think alike in so many ways. Jody is a strong, smart, successful woman. She has only been a photographer for a few years now and her work is amazing. She had a tumor on her spine almot 2 decades ago and was told she would never walk. Well...she walks, hikes, climbs mountains, and carries all this heavy camera gear. She has beaten every odd.
Yesterday she called me in a panic-waiting til today to find out if she had the big "C." At first she was down, as can be expected, and then she rose above it knowing whatever happened, she would be ok. She wanted to know if the worst happened, would I fly to the west coast and document her plight. I got a lump in my throat and thought to myself "of course" but I was really hoping our first time meeting in person would be under better cirmcumstances.
Today while editing images, I got a text saying "BENIGN WOO HOO."
WOO HOO is right.
But I was never really worried. For some reason, I just knew she was going to be fine.

NY Premiere of "Awake" starring Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen, Chelsea West Cinemas-November 14, 2007

The story focuses on a man (Christensen) who suffers "Anesthetic Awareness" (An occurrence where during surgery where not enough anesthetic medication for the patient's body weight), and finds himself awake and aware, but paralyzed, during heart surgery. His wife (Alba) must wrestle with her own demons as a drama unfolds around them.

Stars Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen got a loud clapping ovation tonight (something the NY Celebrity photographers do not often do) and they so deserved it. They posed for every area where the still photographers were, both alone and together. Talk about accomodating! The rest of Hollywood needs to take a lesson from these 2. Rachel Bison also posed long and looked great.
The Weinsten Company also did a great job and gave us more room to work with and did not get in the way on the carpet.
THIS IS HOW A PREMIERE SHOULD BE RUN.
Kuddos to all involved.

2 Premieres in one day:"Mr. Magorium`s Wonder Emporium" and "August Rush"-November 11, 2007

The World Premiere of "Mr. Magorium`s Wonder Emporium" starring Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and Jason Bateman. was held at the DGA Theater. Ah, another day with more incredibly STUPID publicity people. Once again, they ask us to RSVP. They knew EXACTLY how many photographers would be showing up. 40 shooters and they give us 2 barricades under scaffolding. We were set up on a slanted sidewalk and the "talent" had to step up on a platform. I wonder what kind of "experiece" one needs to be an entertainment publicist in this city because when it comes to events, they don;t seem to have a clue what they are doing.
Natalie didn't want to pose, nor did she take off her poncho. Dustin Hoffman walked over to some lucky fans and signed autographs, and Jason Bateman looked as cute as always.

Then it was off to the Ziegfield Theater, 3 blocks away for the premiere of "August Rush" starring Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (who looked a little frightened) and Robin Williams. Much better set up

Dos Lunas Tequilla

the launch of the new Tequilla. Only $2500 per bottle, aged 10 years.
Not a celebrity person but a celebrity in the world of Tequilla.
Not all my shooting is celebrity related!
I am not a drinker but on this cold night, one sip sure did warm me up.

I love this show, and these guys are just too cute.

11th Annual ACE Awards, November 5, 2007

The Accessories Council's 11th Annual ACE Awards honoring individuals and companies who have furthered the awareness and use of Accessories, held at Cipriani's on 42nd Street. Guests included Jessica Simpson, Deborah Norville (who were both wearing the same dress--OOPS!), Mandy Moore, Heidi Klum and Kerry Washington

AWFUL event. once again, the publicity people said "first come first serve" which to those of us who speak English means just that-FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.
Well, there were marked spots for the chosen ones (the usual suspects) which meant NO FRONT ROW SPACES left for the 30 shooters left over. Video was in the front row, some people with point and shoot cameras, and then everyone filled in. The smart ones stayed outside and got a much better photo op than those of us who stayed in.
Jessica Simpson almost had a casualty outside when her heel got caught on one of the grates on the street. If her handlers weren't there to catch her, she would have fallen. (note to women who wear heels--watch those things, Heels do get caught!)
THAT will be the image that will be in all the magazines this week..Jessica's near fall
